The Atlantic, trip to the sea

Picture 1 and 2, is the Cota Sauvage, a beautiful long sandy beach. Behind you a large pine forest and in front of you the wild Atlantic. In 1.5-2 hours you are there and can enjoy the beauty of the Atlantic. The journey goes over country roads so you can still see something of the region.

If you want to have it a little livelier you can also go to Royan on the beach, also a long beautiful beach but behind you the city of Royan where you can go out for dinner or just stroll through the streets.

Canoeing on the Charente

The Charente is the river near here. You can go from Ruffec Rejallant to Verteuil Castle by canoe, duration approx. 4 hours. If you don't want to go that far, no problem, you can get off earlier.

You can book the canoes with transport directly with us, space for three adults or 2 adults and 2 children. You can find the prices on the price list. If you are more people you can also rent the canoes directly on site in Ruffec. Picture 3,4 and 5

VeloRail

With Velo Rail you ride your bike on train tracks. There are always two people riding the bikes at the same time and two more who can go along as passengers. It's really an experience. You can find this in Roumazières-Loubert which is 26km from us or in Confolens 32km from us. picture 7

Verteuil sur Charente Castle

Is a pretty little village just 10km from us directly on the Charente and its beautiful castle (which unfortunately can no longer be visited). It is definitely worth a visit. picture 6

The Eglise Saint-Jean is an underground one. She is definitely worth a visit. It's an impressive structure. The hamlet of Aubeterre-sur-Dronne, where the underground church is located, is also worth a visit. It is car-free, which makes it wonderful to stroll around and have a snack. You can reach them in about 1 hour.

If you still feel like cooling off after your visit, you can take a dip in the lake nearby.
